V = Vintage

Modern Vintage is one of the biggest trends at the moment and I love it. It’s hard to define but it is basically a mixture of old and new styles. Click here for some great examples of Modern Vintage on Pinterest. Fossil is also a great example of modern vintage as I mentioned in F = Fossil.

Wherever I go, I see modern vintage items in fashion, stationary and household goods. Like this beautiful Bridal Shower poster from Etsy:

When my mum visited me recently in CA, she bought me some canisters I’d ordered from a UK shop John Lewis which have a modern vintage feel. I love them and they brighten up my kitchen. I also have a smeg fridge freezer which is considered retro style, here it is back in our kitchen in the UK. I’d wanted one for ages and see it as a work of art.

When sorting through things back home, I came across my mums old typewriter which I consider to be Vintage. I’ve based my artwork on this today:

Do you like Modern Vintage?

  1. I love vintage. I was so lucky to have things given to me by my grandmother and love the retro stuff... probably because I grew up with it. Sometimes its hard to hear that word LOL!

    1. You could have had mine! I had to lug it all the way to the US, or shipped it anyway. It's sat in the garage till we can work out how to get it work, think we need a transformer or something? Not a robot transformer x

  5. Gosh that is one sweet fridge! I love vintage too. I have my mom's mid century modern breakfront, the thing is just awesome, walnut up on legs with sliding glass, shelves and a couple of doors.

  9. I love your little sketch! I also love the mixture of old and new, although I tend to prefer a bit more modern with touches of vintage rather than the other way around.

    1. Thanks poke. I'm drawn to modern vintage stuff whenever we go to a shop selling it, I'm like a magpie.

  12. I have eclectic tastes and while I may find something vintage that I like, it isn't my usual go-to when decorating. Ornery doesn't care for "old" stuff, so I try to please him when possible. He does like old clocks...
