O = Owl

Owls are gorgeous, mystical birds and very popular in illustration. You can't go into a gift shop without seeing loads of cute cards and stationary with owls on. I love this cute mixed media owl taken from a print:

“The Owl and the Pussycat” was one of my favourite poems when I was younger and I had the book. It was written by Edward Lear and first published during 1871. It's such a beautiful poem and the book has lovely illustrations.

The Owl and the Pussycat went to sea
In a beautiful pea-green boat,
They took some honey, and plenty of money,
Wrapped up in a five pound note.
The Owl looked up to the stars above,
And sang to a small guitar,
"O lovely Pussy! O Pussy, my love,
What a beautiful Pussy you are, you are, you are,
What a beautiful Pussy you are.

I was very excited when deciding my artwork for today, here it is:

What books do you remember from your childhood?

    1. Thank thanks Kristen, mixed media is my preferred method for artwork (Rauschenberg is my fave artist). Just checked out serendipity books, I would have liked flutterby I think.

  4. My youngest cousin's favourite animals is the owl. I always think of Owl from Winnie the Pooh whenever I see or hear about one. They're so cute. Did you ever read 'The Owl Who Was Afraid Of The Dark'? It's a children's book and I loved it when I was younger! In regard to making the photos bigger on your blog, once you've uploaded them into your post you can click on them and it gives you options to make them small, medium, large or x-large and you can add a caption too. My new layout has the photos x-large :) xxx
