K = The Killers

The Killers are one of my favourite bands and I managed to get tickets to go see them at the Honda Center in Anaheim on 1st May (this year!), so not long now. I don’t think we have the best seats but I’ve always wanted to see them live and I’m finally going to do it. I’m very excited.

Brandon Flowers is the lead singer of The Killers (he is very cute). Check him out!

I have all their albums but need to listen to the new one Battle Born (2012) a little bit more before we go to the concert so I can sing along.

I love the artwork for their album ‘Day & Age’, which they selected British artist, Paul Normansell (http://www.paulnormansell.com/) to design. It reminds me of Van Goghs ‘Starry Night’(1889).

If I were to design album artwork for ‘The Killers’, I would do something like this:

There is also a song on the ‘Day & Age’ album I would like to be played at my funeral...it’s called ‘I Can’t Stay’. I love the opening lyrics:

The emotion, it was electric,
And the stars, they all aligned,
I knew I had to make my decision,
But I never made the time,
No, I never made the time

Does anyone else think about morbid things like this....and if so, what song would you like played at your funeral?

  2. I have two ideas, one something from my favorite opera, but another is a negro spiritual, "Swing low, sweet chariot, coming for to carry me home,...I looked over Jordan and what did I see, coming for to carry me home, a band of angels coming after me, etc."

  5. I'm not sure what song I'd play at my funeral but I do want everyone to grab some popcorn and watch Gone Fishin' - it's such a simple movie and always reminds me to enjoy the little things in life. If I leave anything - this is the message I want people remember:) Who wouldn't want to watch a movie at a funeral?

  7. For some unknown reason, my mum has told me she would like the hymn 'Plough the field and scatter' played at her funeral :) There is a beautiful song by Jenn Bostic called 'Jealous of the Angels' and although I don't think I'd want it played at my funeral, it is beautiful!

    1. I like how your mum has told you what she wants, I know it's morbid though and something we don't really want to think about. I might check out the songs later...have a lovely weekend!

  8. I like the Killers, although sometimes feel their best stuff was their older stuff - good luck with the job hunt Rowena..

    1. I agree David, I've not really got into the latest album yet. I bet they will play some of the older stuff too, I hope so anyway. Thanks for wishing me good luck with the job hunt!

    1. Hi Rosanna, despite the name they are more an indie rock band than hard rock, they have done some beautiful songs, check them out on YouTube, I'd bet you recognise some of them. :)

  10. Great choice! I also love Starry Night, and Van Gogh. Funeral music, hmmm... actually, I'd rather not have a funeral. Well, I guess I'd leave it up to my loved ones. It's really all about them, so they can play what they want. :)
