Best of British - Day One

My posts for the rest of this month will relate to what I got up to on my recent UK trip. As the lovely Laura commented, it's a great way to make that holiday feeling last a little bit longer and it means I can share some of my photos with you (I promise not to share all 400+).

I'm going to start at the very beginning (its a very good place to start!).

We landed back in the UK on Sunday 30th June and picked up a rental car from Enterprise. After not being able to sleep on the plane, I made Rich do all the driving (you've got to make them feel useful!) and after 6 months in the US, it was back to a manual car, trying to remember to drive on the left hand-side of the road without stalling.

Making our way from Heathrow airport, up the M25/M1/A1 to my mum's in Retford, North Nottinghamshire. The sun was shining, the sky was blue! I spy a UK taxi woo hoo (hey that rhymes!).

At my mums house

We made it in good time, only stopping off once for a quick loo break at Toddington Services. The cats Lola and Bella were waiting to say hello (or miaow).

We had a roast dinner waiting for us....it was so yummy, I forgot to take photos so you will have to trust me it was pretty good.

We were very tired so tried to stay awake as long as we could, we gave up and went to bed at about 8.30pm.

I have attempted badly to draw Bella and Lola for you all (I'm the first to admit that I can't draw people or animals):

See you tomorrow for Day Two!

    1. Yes it is nice, it backs onto fields too so it's pretty quiet. X

  2. Wow is it really difficult to remember to drive differently when you're here. I thought that kind of thing was ingrained into you, lol. A great start to your holiday and your 'Best of British' series :) oh and thanks for the mention :) xx

    1. It was more the remembering to use gears after driving a manual car for so long. Rich was fine but I stalled a couple of times ha ha. X

    1. It's a lovely house and it backs onto fields so it was pretty relaxing. The cats were a little shy with us but by the time we left they were getting pretty friendly x
