Ticket To Ride
I'm cheating a bit today and adapting some artwork I previously did for college, but it works for this post!
Today's song title is 'Ticket To Ride' which was released by The Beatles in 1965. The song got to No.1 in both the UK and the USA. The Beatles were the fourth consecutive British group to get to No.1 in the USA.
Wikipedia says that Lennon stated that the song related to cards indicating a clean bill of health carried by Hamburg prostitutes in the 1960s. The Beatles played in Hamburg early in their musical career, and "ride/riding" was slang for having sex.
You can watch the video and listen to the song here. It's quite an amusing video, Ringo is fake playing the drums!
Everyone likes The Beatles......what is your favourite Beatles song?

I love Twist and Shout, whenever I hear it I just want to get up and dance! :)
ReplyDeleteThat's a great choice, it's definitely a get up and dance song x
Deleteyellow submarine!
ReplyDeletethat ticket looks awesome!!!
Thanks poke! I'm pretty pleased with it too. I love yellow submarine, I might try and do it as a blog post soon x
DeleteI was a huge Beatle fan. I like them all but the ones that are the nearest and dearest to my heart are their first few records - I was young (4th grade) when I first heard them and fell head over heels in love. Talk about a flood of memories, every time I hear a song, it takes me back.
ReplyDeleteGosh I'm old....
Your'e only as old as you feel remember! x
DeleteThe Beatles make me think of John Lennon. John Lennon makes me think of my old classmate, Amanda. She was in love with him. We had gym class on the day he died. She just sobbed and sobbed. We must have been freshmen in high school. Sorry, I don't have a fave song.
ReplyDeleteThat's okay. Must have been pretty traumatic for a lot of people when Lennon died x
DeleteAwesome artwork as per usual. Not a big Beatles fan :( ... I know a few of their songs but don't know the names of them! I know what your thinking lol damn y-gen! :p
ReplyDeleteHa Ha! I'm not a massive fan either, wrong era for me! I do like some of their songs though. X
DeleteI always end up dancing to 'Come Together' and 'Let It Be' and as a Supernatural fan, I have to love 'Hey Jude'; The Beatles did some awesome songs. I actually crossed the Abbey Rd crossing last summer - the one in London that appears on the album cover of the same name - that was fun and can be found on my blog, somewhere, lol xx
ReplyDeleteCrossing Abbey Road is a cool thing to do, I will add it to my list! They did so many awesome tunes...I like hard days night, it reminds of school the teachers sang it at a concert once x
DeleteHey! I know I haven't been here for long now! Was having some crazy days! And thanks a lot for visiting my space :)
ReplyDeleteAnd Beautiful artwork... But not a Beatles fan to name a fav!
Hey! How have you been? X
DeleteOoh, I think this is my favorite one! I love the Beatles.
ReplyDeleteso many songs to choose ftom x
DeleteI think my favorite Beatles song is "I Will"
ReplyDeleteI never saw them did you?
But at least I can brag a bit I did see Paul McCartney and Wings when I was 16 or 17 yrs old with my brother and his friends in NY at the Nassau Coliseum. He sang a lot of Beatles songs because at that point back in the late 1970's he had not yet sold all his songs to Michael Jackson.
i dont think i know 'i will'? i will try and check it out. The Beatles are the wrong era for me so i never saw them live. I like a lot of there songs though...not a fan of mccartney though!
