U = Upper Class

I have been lucky enough to fly Upper Class twice now. Once when travelling to India with work and again when we flew to LAX from the UK for our California adventure. Both times were paid for by the companies! I would never be able to pay for Upper Class myself, I normally fly economy, even on my honeymoon.

I have flown Upper Class with both Emirates and Virgin Atlantic and I have flown economy with both too. One thing I noticed is that you get treated completely different by the air hostesses in Upper Class to when you sit in economy (especially with Virgin Atlantic). I suppose I should have expected this seeing as the price is extorinate. I did enjoy Upper Class, but don’t think it is worth what they charge.

The best things are being able to lie down, having a proper pillow and a choice of meals, all served on proper plates and with cutlery. I won't deny that I didn't enjoy the Champagne, Afternoon Tea or Cheese Board!!

The worst things are being interrupted by the air hostesses all the time, I personally like to be left alone to watch a film or read. Also I don’t like how you can’t see out the window with Virgin Atlantic and you can’t cosy up to your husband because of the barrier between you.

My favourite thing about flying is looking out the window, seeing which country we are flying over from a birds eye view. I love cosying up to Rich too. You just can’t do these things in Upper Class.

Artwork today is 'Lets Fly'...

What are your favourite things about flying?

  1. Very luxurious! I traveled in business class once from Turkmenistan ( where we had to stop at from England) to India which was for a couple of hours but it was nice to have the extra space and lying down, where bouts did you go in India, what did you think of it? My favourite thing is looking out the window and seeing the amazing views and taking photos of it!

    1. Hey Mandy, I went to Kerala but it was all work, work, work so no time to explore really. I have so many pictures I've taken from planes, I love all the weird cloud formations.

  2. It's been a while, but I liked flying with my son when he was little. I think he got a little pin.

    1. I used to love all the free gifts you got as a kid, and the kids meals are better than the adults, for me anyway!

  3. That extra leg room and a pillow would be SO fabulous for me.

Seriously though really who could afford it without their company paying for it?

    Lucky you!

We're taking a trip in May, I dread being squished between heaven knows who!

  5. that would be the British class system - have been upgraded now and again. Not enough. Prefer the roomy chairs.

  7. I flew for the first time a few weeks ago, and I think everyone was extremely unenthusiastic about how amused I was by the tiny version of our world. It felt like someone was shoving cotton-balls into my head on the way down, though. I wonder if it feels like that in upper class, too. ;)

  8. My favorite thing about flying would be just knowing I'm on my way somewhere fun (hopefully!). I'm not a huge fan of flying, but those meals look better than what I've had. Ever.

    1. thats a pretty good reason to like flying danielle. the meals in economy are generally rubbish, breakfasts are sometimes ok. :)

  9. Stopping by for AtoZ. Looking out the window is the best part of flying. You think they would realize that when they're designing the upper class area on planes.

    1. My thoughts exactly! Emirates was pretty perfect and I could see out of the window but virgin atlantic you can't really. It's still a good experience, just for what they charge I want it to be perfect. :)

  10. I've never flown first-class, even on my honeymoon. It's on my bucket list though, so maybe one day :) I think it'd have to be a night flight though to get the most out of the leg room :)

    1. It's a good thing to have on our bucket list, I'm sure you will get the opportunity one day. My step dad treated my mum to upper class recently when she came to visit me recently, she had night flights both ways. It was her first time! X

  11. Can lie down luxuriously. That's the only thing of Upper class that attracts me. And flown in first class only once or twice... and that too, thanks to air miles offer!

    1. We have loads of airmiles but there always seems to be a reason why we can't upgrade...i think they make it difficult on purpose! We are going to try for premium class when we visit the Uk, I think that will be good enough for me :)

  12. You're so lucky! I've never flown anything other than Economy. I would love to fly Business Class. I think that is my dream flight. :)
